Greenville SC - Ebike Trip - Day 1

We had our first ebike trip this weekend.   We are spending a long weekend in Greenville, SC.   Greenville is home to the Swamp Rabbit Trail, which is a 22 mile walk and bikeway that runs along the Reedy River,  an old railroad corridor and City parks to connect Travelers Rest with the City of Greenville, South Carolina.  Today, we went about 10 miles including a breakfast stop.   Our bikes hadn't been charged properly due to failed fuses in the battery.    We only started with about a 60% charge and ended up ending the ride either pushing or in pedal bike mode.  Our batteries were depleted and so were the ones on the bikes.

We stopped and got some tools and some fuses and swapped them.   Currently, our bikes are fully charged for tomorrow's ride.

Rack 'em up!

Today, we installed a 1Up Super Duty Dual Bike Rack,  It was extremely easy to install and load.  It's sturdy enough to carry both ebikes with their batteries.   For security, we'll remove the batteries.  We have two wheel locks and those are keyed to the same key as the lock that secures the rack to the hitch.  We then took a five minute drive to make sure everything rode well.   It takes about five minutes to load and secure both bikes.  Here are some pictures Loaded, Unloaded and Unloaded and raised for clearance.

More RAD, with upgrades during the cold months

Today, Amy and I went on our longest ebike ride together.   We traveled a total of 5.2 miles through Oakhurst, Agnes Scott College, then to the Path bike patch to Rockyford, then all the way to Hosea Williams, then back through Oakhurst.

This was my first significant ride with some upgrades.  These made the bike much easier and more comfortable to ride.

  • Bike Stem Riser Handlebar Riser - This raised the handlebars by a good bit and allows me to sit more upright.   Surprisingly, before, my neck really hurt during a ride because I was having to look up to see the road.
  • Comfortable Bike Seat Cushion for Men & Women - This really made today's ride awesome.  With the original saddle, I hurt for most of the ride.  Today, I wasn't at all uncomfortable on the ride and it was so much nicer.
  • RadMission Rear Rack - I guess the RadMission got redesigned recently and they were discounting the rack by 50%.  I haven't needed to carry anything since I installed it, but I did before adding it.
All of this made my RadMission Version 2.0 an even more enjoyable ebike.

Ride to downtown Decatur

We had a nice ride tonight.  We went all the way to Coyote’s and Fellini’s. It had rained and the RadMission’s don’t have fenders, so we got wet.  This might have been our longest ride, but certainly the furthest we’ve been away from the house.

RadMission 1 Assembly Instructions

Tomorrow is the evening that I plan to assemble (and test) the RadMission, so I'm watching this video in preparation.

The RadMission 1 has arrived

As I mentioned, I probably won't get a chance to assemble it until Monday, but it has arrived!
